CoolSculpting® Post Treatment Instructions

What to expect immediately after the CoolSculpting procedure:

Immediately after the procedure, the treated area may appear slightly swollen and look slightly red.
You may feel a sense of mild cramping or stinging, light nausea, or dizziness during the post-treatment massage as your body naturally warms and the sensation returns to the treatment area. These reactions are perfectly normal and typically resolve within minutes.
The treated area may be red for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary side effect following the CoolSculpting procedure.

Avoid anti-inflammatory or NSAID’s such as ibuprofen for 2 weeks post-treatment.
Avoid heavy exercise, excessive sweating, saunas, and hot tubs for the first 24 hours post-treatment.
Some patients find that gentle compression of the treated area may relieve some of the initial discomfort. This can be done by wearing a tank top or something like Spanx. Pillows can be used to support the treated area while sleeping or you can use an Ace bandage for added comfort.

It is common for the treated area to appear swollen for the first few days. This can last up to 7 days after the CoolSculpting procedure however this is not common.
You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation or numbness in the treated area, which can last for 2-4 weeks after your procedure. This is perfectly normal and will resolve over time.
The treated area can remain tender for several days after the treatments. Superficial tenderness typically resolves within two to four weeks but can last longer. Deeper tenderness felt with pressure in the area may occur several weeks after the treatment is complete. Both are perfectly normal and will resolve over time.
Some patients experience itching, mild tingling, or pain in the treated area along with general soreness. These symptoms can last up to four weeks however some patients may continue to experience symptoms for up to six weeks. All of these symptoms are perfectly normal and will resolve over time.
You may start to see changes as early as four to six weeks after your CoolSculpting procedure using the Elite machine. Some patients report seeing results even sooner. Most will experience the most dramatic results after two to three months however, some have noticed additional improvement up to four months post-treatment.

Results will vary from person to person depending on the type of tissue, density, location, and volume of tissue drawn into the treatment applicator.
On average, post-treatment symptoms will reach their peak by day 7. Most patients can enjoy normal daily activities immediately after their treatments. This varies depending on individual tolerance, number of treatments completed, area treated, and type of tissue.
Allow your body time to respond to the CoolSculpting treatments. The results will not show up within the first few days or weeks. It takes time for the body to reduce the treated area. Results will be seen within 2-3 months, with the maximum results obtained at the 3-month mark.
The average reduction of the treated area is approximately 20%-25%. Some individuals may notice a greater reduction, while some will experience less. There is no way of knowing the precise amount of reduction before the treatment begins.
An increase in weight after your CoolSculpting treatments will prevent you from seeing your full results. Maintaining the same weight, a regular exercise routine, and consuming healthy foods will ensure that your treatment results will be visible during your 90-day follow-up appointment.
